GRINNING FOXES

Habitat: They live in thick forests and on the edges of plains and grasslands.

Diet: Grinning Foxes prefer to hunt smaller animals, but when food is scarce, they will eat berries and roots. Rarely, they will scavenge for food, eating dead Bisopotamusas and other dead animals.

Predators: Deceiver Hawks

Defense: Skinny bodies and legs make it easier for Grinning Foxes to flee quickly. They prefer flight over fight, but will bite and scratch if strongly provoked.

Mostly Active: Grinning Foxes are mostly active during dawn and dusk, when Deceiver Hawks are most likely to be sleeping.

Males are called Studs. Females are Bitches. Young are called Kits.

Breeding: Grinning Fox females are in heat at the beginning of every season. During mating season, four or five males will often be attracted to the scent of a single female.

Grinning Foxes don't fight each other, but instead hop and spring around in front of the female. She makes her choice by picking the Fox that can jump the highest. Usually, the skinniest yet fluffiest male wins.

Raising Young: A mating pair will parent a single kit a season. The male will stay with the female and kit until the kit is weaned from its mother. After that, the male will leave to find neighboring dens with other females and young kits. A strong male with eat any and every kit he can, except for his own, to diminish competition for his offspring.

A kit will stay with its mother for no more than two seasons, or six months, before its sent out on its own to begin breeding.

Life Span: Grinning Foxes live from fifteen to twenty years.
